Barn Conversion Refurbishment

The house is a barn conversion which was converted twenty years ago. The brief was to incorporate a cloister area into the main house and to create a usable outside space. The approach to the house as well as the front porch area were redesigned to allow the cloister to become a part of the main space making the floor plan larger and more open. The cloister area of the house is south facing and it was important to try and use this to allow light to penetrate further in to the building.

By including the cloister area into the main living space it allows the garden to become part of the house, bringing the outdoors in.
